The Drug-Free Workplace Policy: Reasonable Suspicion online training is part of a Board-approved program to promote and maintain a safe, healthy, drug-free workplace. This online training is presented by the Employee Assistance Program of the Chief Administrative Office Risk Management Branch. This online training is intended for supervisors and managers and those who may be moving into supervisory positions. 

The program content includes the following topics:

  • Drug and Alcohol awareness training for supervisory staff
    • Identifying Sign and Symptoms of drug/alcohol usage
    • Identifying Withdrawal Symptoms
    • Recognizing an employee's impaired performance as a result of drugs or alcohol
  • Key Laws and County Policies regarding Reasonable Suspicion
  • Step-by-Step procedures for the Reasonable Suspicion process
    • Understanding the Reasonable Suspicion procedures and steps that are needed in order to maintain a drugfree workplace
    • Understanding the process that occurs after an employee is suspected for Reasonable Suspicion.
  • Documentation
  • Testing of represented and non-represented staff when there is reasonable suspicion that an employees impaired performance is a result of drugs and/or alcohol
  • Testing applicants and employees for positions related to the safety of employees and the public
  • Handling of impaired performance suspected to be related to drug and alcohol abuse
  • Utilization of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services and rehabilitation.
