Application filing is currently closed The intent of this 100-hour certificate program, Building a Strategic HR Partnership, is to redefine and reinforce the role of human resources professionals as strategic business partners with management, both within their departments and in collaboration with other County departments. This program is tailored to the County and is based on a structured needs-assessment process that utilized an incumbent HR manager focus group, assessments from other HR managers, and input from County executives. The program addresses important current issues in HR and enables participants (through an action research design) to develop a preliminary strategic HR plan. The customized curriculum will cover:

The program consists of 100 hours of classroom instruction plus assignments and group projects over a 13-week period. Classes will be held two half-days per week in the late afternoon and one Saturday. Course work and assignments are partly on County time and partly on your own time. You should anticipate one hour of study time for each hour of classroom instruction. Participants who are successful in completing this program will receive an advanced professional development certificate from the California State University system and will be eligible for continuing education units. Academy Certificate Programs are financed through the Los Angeles County Learning Academy. |
